What is BachatAI?
BachatAI is an AI-powered personal finance app built for India. Unlike traditional budgeting apps that require you to type in transactions manually, BachatAI connects to your Gmail inbox (with read-only permission) and automatically detects the bank alert emails your bank sends whenever a transaction occurs — a debit or credit on your account.
The app extracts transaction data from those emails and uses it to give you a complete, real-time picture of your spending — so you can track where your money goes, create budgets, set savings goals, and ask an AI assistant questions about your finances.

Why BachatAI Requests Gmail Access
BachatAI requests read-only access to your Gmail account (gmail.readonly scope) for one specific purpose: to read the bank transaction alert emails that your bank sends to your inbox whenever a debit or credit occurs on your account.
Indian banks send SMS and email notifications for every transaction — for example, "Your account has been debited ₹1,200 at Swiggy on 10-Jun-2026." BachatAI reads only these notification emails to extract the transaction details automatically, so you never have to enter them manually.
How We Use Gmail Data
- What we search for: Emails containing bank transaction keywords (such as "debited", "credited", "INR") from known bank sender addresses in your inbox.
- What we extract: Structured transaction data only — amount, merchant or description, transaction type (debit/credit), date, and available balance where present.
- What we store: Only the extracted transaction fields above — stored securely in your BachatAI account to display in the app.
- What we do NOT read or store: Personal emails, attachments, contacts, sent mail, or any email content unrelated to bank transaction notifications.
- Immediate deletion: The raw email body is temporarily stored in our secure database solely to facilitate AI extraction. It is permanently deleted immediately after extraction completes and is never retained in long-term storage.
- OAuth token security: The OAuth token authorising our Gmail access is stored encrypted using AES-256-GCM and never stored or logged in plain text.
What we never do with your Gmail data: We never read personal or non-bank emails. We never permanently retain raw email content — it is deleted immediately after AI extraction. We never use Gmail data to serve advertisements. We never sell or share Gmail data with any third party for commercial purposes.
Revoking Gmail Access
You can revoke BachatAI's Gmail access at any time — no need to contact us. Visit myaccount.google.com/permissions, find BachatAI in the list, and click Remove Access.
BachatAI's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other application will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
